The world premiere of Paramount Pictures 'Trekkies 2' will be at the Newport Beach Film Festival on April 20.
Shot in 1996-97, during the 30th anniversary of 'Star Trek,' TREKKIES was the definitive documentary about one of the largest fan phenomena in pop culture history.
Seven years later, the filmmakers are finding out what's new in the world of 'Star Trek' fandom. They begin their journey in Bonn, Germany for Fed-Con 11, the largest ongoing convention outside of the United States, where they discover that nobody is more serious about 'Star Trek' than the Germans. A trip to the first-ever 'Star Trek' convention in Serbia (part of the former Yugoslavia) proves to be an historical moment for the Serbians, and an emotional one as well. Traveling to eight countries across Europe, North and South America, and Australia, they find thousands of people who share a passion for the characters, mission, and message that have captured the imaginations of U.S. audiences since the series first aired in September of 1966.
Don't miss this World Premiere opportunity to visit fans from around the world and here at home, as the tour also visits original 'TREKKIES' profilees Barbara Adams (The 'Star Trek' juror) and Gabriel Kerner, now married and busy directing his own 'Star Trek' fan film in Bakersfield, California.
'TREKKIES 2' director and editor Roger Nygard, host Denise Crosby, and producer Michael Leahy, bring audiences the best and the most informative moments from this astounding world tour, and present another fascinating look at the world through the eyes of the people we have come to know as 'Trekkies.'

Warp 11 mixes Trek and original rock in tribute to green-skinned alien groupies and Romulan ale yielding extremely silly music that's heard in Southern California on KROQ and over 60 radio stations nationwide. Sci Fi Channel magazine raved 'Resistance is futile when it comes to relishing the eclectic sound of Warp 11.'
