"In their collective state, the Borg are utterly without mercy ... driven by one will alone: the will to conquer. They are beyond redemption ... beyond reason."
— Captain Jean Luc Picard, U.S.S. Enterprise-D
"It is my opinion that the Borg are as close to pure evil as any race we've ever encountered."
— Captain Amasov, U.S.S. Endeavor
"The Borg is the ultimate user. They're unlike any threat your Federation has ever faced."
— Q to the U.S.S. Enterprise-D crew
The Borg is without question one of the most fearsome and relentless forces in the Milky Way galaxy. A massive society of cybernetic automatons abducted and assimilated from thousands of species, the Borg Collective is intent on achieving "perfection" by spreading its influence into every corner of space, consuming technologies and individuals without conscience, obliterating entire civilizations in its wake. And it has a particular interest in incorporating the human race into its "Hive."
This special exclusive video documentary narrated by Vaughn Armstrong provides an overview of Borg culture and some of the more notable Earth/Federation clashes with the Borg, from their attempts to subvert history in 2063 to the first documented encounter with a starship in 2365, to their decimation by a visitor from the future in 2378. This treatise is by no means complete, as the volume of data available on the Borg would take hours to relate, but rather is intended to serve as a "primer" on this crucial topic.
"The Borg" is a 20-minute documentary, the full, continuous version now available in the fourth link on the left. The first three links have the video separated into three parts. The first section, about 9 minutes long, is an overview. Part 2, about 5 minutes long, recounts some of the historical Federation/Borg encounters, particularly those involving Captain Picard's Enterprise and Borg offensives against Earth. The third segment, about 7 minutes long, addresses the U.S.S. Voyager's experience with the Borg in the Delta Quadrant.
As you enter the world of the Borg, remember the words of Guinan: "Protect yourself or they will destroy you."
